How photo to sketch works
- Upload your photo. Choose a static PNG or JPEG you have permission to edit. The local format and content check runs on this device first.
- Choose a sketch style. Pencil for a light study, charcoal for bold contrast, line art for clean outlines, ink for sharp strokes or graphite for soft tonal shading.
- Generate when available. An AI model translates the photo into the chosen sketch style, preserving composition and major elements while redrawing textures.
- Download the result. The sketch is a standard image file you can use in design tools, print or share. Compare it with the original before final use.
What makes a good source photo
- Clear subjects with good lighting — portraits, objects, landscapes and architecture work well.
- Strong contrast between subject and background helps the model separate edges and shading.
- Photos with simple backgrounds produce cleaner line art. Busy backgrounds may add noise to pencil and graphite styles.
- Higher-resolution inputs preserve more structural detail in the sketch output. You can resize or crop first in the editor.
Choosing a sketch style
- Pencil — light, quick strokes; best for rough studies and concept drafts.
- Detailed pencil — more strokes and cross-hatching; closer to a finished pencil drawing.
- Charcoal — bold, dark strokes with soft edges; dramatic contrast for portraits and still life.
- Line art — clean outlines only, no shading; ideal for vector-like and coloring-book results.
- Ink — sharp, high-contrast black strokes; resembles a pen-and-ink illustration.
- Graphite — soft tonal shading with smooth gradients; closer to a finished graphite study.
Output and use
- Results are exported as standard PNG or JPEG matching the input format. The sketch preserves the original aspect ratio.
- The model redrawing textures means fine details, text and small patterns may differ from the original. Inspect the result before final use.
- Generated results are stored in your saved works after a verified purchase.
- You can composite the sketch into a larger design, print it, or use it as a base for further hand editing.
Common questions
Can I convert a photo to a sketch right now?
Not yet on this public page. You can upload and check a photo locally, but live generation and checkout are not open. A verified purchase will be required when the service is enabled.
What image formats and sizes are supported?
One static PNG or JPEG, up to 8 MiB, 4 megapixels and 4,096 pixels per side. Each dimension must be at least 256 pixels. Animated images, URLs and batches are not supported.
Will the sketch look exactly like my photo?
No. Sketch conversion redrawing strokes, shading and texture. The composition and major shapes are preserved, but fine details, text and small patterns may change. Choose a style that fits your subject and inspect the result before use.
Does the local check upload my photo?
The format and content precheck runs on this device only. Nothing is uploaded during the local check. When paid generation opens, submitting requires your consent and independent server checks. Read the safety guidance and privacy policy before use.
What if the conversion fails?
A failed task does not release an image and credits remain reserved. Do not submit the same task again; check its status after signing in.
Can I use sketches from photos I do not own?
You are responsible for the rights to your source image. Sketch conversion does not grant additional rights to the output. Review the terms of service before commercial use.
